Babati and Hannang

Tanzania Cultural Tourism

Babati Cultural Tour includes traveling from the Arusha-Dodoma Road in the Rift Valley, south of Lake Manyara National Park and west of Tarangire where Babati town is situated.  Babati town boasts Lake Babati where floating hippos can be watched and which is rich in fish, including both Tilapia and Nile Perch. With our Babati Cultural Tour, guests will experience how commercial and farming tribes coexist with conservative cattle-herding tribes to provide distinguished cultural contrasts.

In Hanang district which is near the stunning Mount Hanang (3,418 meters), lives the Barbaig people who are the native of the area, and their traditional culture is still unchanged and unspoiled. With this Babati Cultural Tour, visitors will also witness the women wearing traditional goat-skin dresses while the men walk around with sharp spears. Visitors can interact freely with the Barbaig, commonly known as the Mangati, living in the Mang’ati plains.

By visiting this Barbaig tribe, the visitors will learn many things including the traditional ways of life of these native people. Are you interested in bird watching?  The Babati Cultural Tour will give visitors an opportunity to witness about 350 bird species on the tour of the area.
